Geometry you can inspect

Understand the measurement before making the call. Explicit geometry, visible evidence.

01 / MEASURE

True base distance

For circular bases, nearest-edge distance is max(0, d − r₁ − r₂). The demo begins at a center distance of 188 mm, giving a 152 mm gap between a 32 mm and a 40 mm base. A 6-inch range is exactly 152.4 mm: the margin is +0.4 mm.

d − r₁ − r₂
02 / UNDERSTAND

Within and wholly within

This lab defines Within using the nearest target edge and Wholly within using the farthest target edge, measured from the source base. Farthest distance is max(0, d + r₂ − r₁). At the demo position it is 192 mm. These are explicit custom definitions, not universal game rules.

Ghost move & blast

Set a ghost origin before moving to compare the old range ring with the new one. Blast mode uses a draggable circular template and counts bases that overlap the area, including allies. It is a placement aid; resolve each game’s actual rules separately.

A ONE-MILLIMETER CHALLENGE

One move. One millimeter.
A different outcome.

The selected blue base starts 1 mm out of range of E-01. Move it toward the target by exactly 1 mm. Boundary equality is included. The challenge has no terrain restriction.

BEFORE YOU MEASURE

Clear rules.
Better decisions.

Circular bases · flat 2D geometry · custom definitions · not an official rules arbiter.

Does this apply official game rules?

No. This is a neutral geometry sandbox. Check the game, edition and current rules before making a ruling. All calculations here use circular bases on a flat plane.

What does line of sight measure?

A center-to-center segment is tested against the rectangular obstacle shown on the board. Height, true model visibility and terrain rules are excluded. Range and sight are independent results.

How do I print at true size?

The SVG template uses the currently selected range radius and records its paper dimensions. Print at 100% or Actual Size, disable Fit to Page, and check the 50 mm calibration line with a physical ruler. Large ranges need a large sheet or tiled printing.

Where is my data stored?

The lab has no account or backend. JSON exports stay on your device until you choose to share them. The host blog may separately use cookies, analytics or advertising according to its own policies.

How does the blast placement finder work?

It tests enemy centers and intersection points of expanded circles. It prefers the candidate covering the most enemies, then fewer allies among those candidates. This is a candidate search, not a global tactical optimizer; terrain, movement limits and game-specific effect rules are excluded.
